Charging stations in Haarlem where you earn points

Haarlem has more than 330 public charge points, and that number grows every quarter. Density is highest around the city centre and in the nineteenth-century neighbourhoods around it, where few residents have a driveway of their own and charging therefore happens on the street by definition — almost all of them AC units of 11 to 22 kW. For fast charging you head to the edges of the city: the business parks in the Waarderpolder and the arterial roads towards the A9 and the A200. At the locations below, PowerGoodies credits you points automatically with every charging session.

Fast charging in Haarlem

If you want to charge fast in Haarlem, in practice you drive to the edge of the city. Inside the Singels there is barely room for DC power: the streets are narrow, parking pressure is high and the grid connections in the older neighbourhoods were never built for it. The fast chargers are therefore concentrated in the Waarderpolder and near Schalkwijk, both a few minutes from the A9 and the A200. Expect 20 to 30 minutes for 10 to 80 percent at 150 kW, depending on your car and the outside temperature. If you charge in winter, bear in mind that a cold battery throttles charging power considerably for as long as thermal management is still working.

How you earn points while charging

  1. Link your charge card once. You keep your existing card or app from your charging provider; PowerGoodies does not replace it.
  2. Charge at a connected location. All the locations above take part. Points are credited per kWh charged, so a full session earns more than a short one.
  3. Unplug on time. At some of the locations you get a bonus for freeing up the bay as soon as you are done. That earns you points and saves the next driver a wait.

Frequently asked questions about charging in Haarlem

Do I earn points at every charging station in Haarlem?

No. You only earn points at charge points on connected networks. Those are shown on the map and in the list above. At other units in the city you can still charge, but it does not earn points.

Does it work with both AC and DC?

Yes, with both. The number of points depends on the kWh charged rather than on the charging power, so a long AC session can earn more than a short stop at a fast charger.

Do I need a separate charge card?

No. You link your existing charge card once in the PowerGoodies app. After that points are credited automatically and nothing changes about the way you charge or pay.

What can I do with the points?

You redeem them in the app for rewards from participating partners. You can also donate them to a good cause.

Where are the fast chargers in Haarlem?

Mainly on the edge of the city: the Waarderpolder and Schalkwijk, both easily reached from the A9 and the A200. The centre has almost exclusively AC units.
